Abstract. The research was conducted in a greenhouse on kohlrabi grown in peat. The following were investigated: yield, dry matter, vitamin C, NO3, Ca, Mg, P, K in the leaves and in stems. Plants were fertigated with a nitrogen 0.3; 0.6; 0.9; 1.2 g·dm-3 of substrate.

The effect of different nitrogen fertilization on yielding
of kohlrabi and chemical composition in leaves and stems

Summary

The effect of increasing doses of nitrogen (NH4NO3) on yield of kohlrabi was investigated. The greenhouse experiment was conducted in 2-litre plastic bands filled with peat substrate. Leaves of kohlrabi contain higher amount of dry matter, vitamin C, NO3, Ca, Mg and lower P, K than in stems. It was found on the basis of the yield leaves and stems and chemical composition optimum concentration of mineral nitrogen was 100-160 mg·dm-3 of substrate.
